Erk Pod episode 177 – 45 minutes

Welcome to episode 177 of Erk Pod. This was recorded from Hooters at Long Beach. It’s a hard job but someone has to do it, right? I update you about my trip, talk a little about Long Beach and then talk with Hooters Girl, Crystal. Like I said, hard job! I could have talked to her a lot longer but she was working and was reasonably busy for the time of the afternoon it was. As a bonus, when I asked her for permission to do this episode and speak to her, she knew what podcasting was – what a bonus! When I go around America, I’ll be sure to drop into other Hooters stores, possibly with some other podcasters. Let’s see what happens and what other Hooters Girls know what podcasting is!

  1. YUM! Curly fries! I was going to say to you earlier to eat lots of curly fries for me, they’re easier to come by over there :P

  2. I’ve never been to a Hooters, Erk. And actually, I don’t believe there are any in my area.

Funny thing about cruising and why it’s such a Los Angeles thing. I believe cruising started with the baby boomer kids back in the late 50’s/early 60’s. Once they turned driving age, they’d take their parents’ cars and just drive up and down the main drags all night because they had nothing else to do. Cars are heavily interwoven into the cultural fabric of southern California, as I’m sure you’ve noticed.

  3. I can’t quite figure out all of the Spanish in this one, Erk. But, you did come reasonably close to pronouncing a few of the words almost right. Again, expect an mp3 sometime soon, with as much Spanish correction as I can manage.

The interview with Crystal was a nice touch for this episode about Hooters. I didn’t know that Hooter’s waitresses were allowed to do interviews. It sounds to me like Crystal is intending to teach First Grade, if she wants to work with kids that are six or seven years old. That’s a good age to work with.
